Women Cyclist Refuse To Stand On Podium After Transgender Wins 1st Place

2nd and 3rd place at a women’s cycling race refused to stand on the winner’s podium after a transgender female was awarded first place. The transgender, Lesley Mumford, won her age group at the 100-mile Desert Gravel race.
“I have no idea why so many people bailed before the podiums, but they did,” Mumford wrote. One of the main reasons that people were mad at Mumford is because the race even had a non-binary section, but she still competed in the female category.
The 2nd place athlete came in about 17 minutes after Mumford.
A female swimmer for the University of Kentucky, who has been in a similar position to the 2nd and 3rd place cyclist, Riley Gaines, released a statement about the race, saying “Enough is enough! Empty podium except for the male who naturally finished atop all the women in the women’s category. Despite there being a non-binary/trans category he easily could have competed in. Keep it up girls! #SaveWomensSports”.
Gaines was forced to compete against a biological male in her female swim races as well, which is a clear advantage to the man.
