Washington’s $143 Million Homeless Program Is Out Of Money After Helping Less Than 1000 People

In 2022, Wahington Governor, Jay Inslee, set up a $143 million homeless program for the state.
You would think with that much money, tens of thousands of homeless people would have been helped and given shelter, but in reality, less than 1,000 people have been helped by the program.
And that’s not even the worst part, the Governor has already begun asking for more money for the program, saying “You can’t do this with zero dollars,”. “We’ll need the legislature in January to step up to increase funding so we can continue the progress we’re making.”
If $143 million only went to helping less than a thousand people, then the Governor clearly needs to change up the program.
It’s pretty clear that if all of the $143 million truly went to the program, then they would have been able to help more than 1000 homeless.
If what the Governor is saying is true, then it took $165,000 per homeless person, just to get them off the streets.
