Transgender Female’s Track State Qualifying Time Sparks Backlash

A biological man competed as a female at a high school track meet in California. The transgender female placed 2nd place in the 1600-meter run, which qualifies her for the state meet.
This sparked backfire on Twitter, with many saying that she should be disqualified because she is a biological male. The top 3 runners in the event advance to the state meet, and the 4th place runner could be seen giving a thumbs down because if the biological man hadn’t run in the women’s race, she could have qualified.
“I wasn’t expecting that. I dropped like 17 seconds on my season’s best in the past two weeks,” the biological male racer told MileSplit, unfazed by the protest that occurred during the meet. “After last weekend, I didn’t think I could run low 5s again. I was just coming here trying to break 5 – just glad I finished it out.”
During the meet, a group of people were protesting, holding signs that said, “Protect Female Sports”. These people were later removed from the event by a security team.
