Memorial Day

Although Memorial Day seems like an excuse for a few days off of work and to barbecue, there is actually a very serious purpose to it. Memorial Day honors all of the U.S. soldiers that have died in combat.

Memorial Day always takes place on the last Monday of May. Flags should be kept at half-staff until noon, and then be raised to full.

Many towns and cities have parades that honor the men and women that died in combat. These parades usually have veterans walking in it, or the family members of veterans that passed away in it.

As you sit back and relax with your family today, remember the sacrifice that those brave men and women made so that you could live in a free nation.
