Houston Experiences Syphilis Outbreak Drastically Increasing Amount Of Cases

According to Houston health officials, a syphilis outbreak has caused a one-hundred-twenty-eight percent increase in cases among women. According to Fox News, the number of cases last year was six-hundred-seventy-four, which is a lot compared to 2019 which was two-hundred-ninety-five cases.

The number of new infections, among citizens in Houston, has also raised by fifty-seven percent since 2019.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that is caused by not wearing protection during intercourse.

The bad thing about syphilis is that it lasts an extremely long time. In fact, you can have syphilis for multiple years. The disease causes multiple rashes and sores all over your body. It can even cause organ damage over time.

Syphilis also has severe consequences to the woman, if she is pregnant since it can affect the fetus as well.
