Don’t Touch My Pizza!

There is speculation about a possible ban of coal and wood burning ovens in New York State. Proponents believe that this would significantly reduce carbon emissions and have a positive impact on the environment.
Many pizzeria owners, who rely on these coal or wood burning ovens to make New York’s world-famous pizza, are outraged at the idea. One protester showed his displeasure by launching slices of pizza at New York City Hall.
Many celebrities have also spoken up in opposition, including Elon Musk, who tweeted, “This is utter bs. It won’t make a difference to climate change.”
Restaurant owners across New York City have banded together and protested against it.
This comes on the heels of legislation signed into law by New York Governor Kathy Hochul that bans gas stoves in new residential construction. New York is the first state in the country to enact such a ban.
